Dreaming

My epileptic and yellow Labrador Retriever Dash, sleeps and dreams of my dog Chance who is playing happily in the far away. St. Thomas, my chocolate Labrador, sleeps and dreams of the present moment, warm and pillowed head next to me.
I will dream of something wonderful too –piloting a plane into a sunset; the colorful parrot fish in Caribbean reefs that live among bright purple Sea Fans; falling asleep on a secluded Maui beach; painting outside in the springtime and eating a peanut butter sandwich; picking pasture-field wildflowers for a Mason jar vase to sit on my breakfast table; sitting on the edge of the Mesa and waiting for the sun to turn the Manzanos mountains diamond pink; walking through an Art museum where I am stilled by beauty; browsing through a bookstore and discovering a new author who will become a lifetime favorite; eating sweet cherries off the tree with fingers turned bright red from their juices; enjoying the tired that comes from a day of gardening; sitting in the airport waiting for the first sighted glimpse of a dear friend; walking down Columbus avenue In New York wearing a new turquoise sweater the first really warm day in the Spring; coming home to dogs after being away for a day’s work; asking my mother to make me deviled eggs; writing a letter on new stationary to a friend who has traveled to another continent; discovering a new song that speaks to all of me; the smell of Kenyan coffee being ground; the confident freedom I feel when I embark on a road trip; waking up rested after a good night's sleep………….
