The Front Porch
I have the pleasure to live in “this old house” on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1852 and has a great front porch. Summer evenings on the front porch are divine. Perhaps all these new homes with decks behind the house are missing out on something important, something known to home owners in the past: porches make good neighbors and build community. This year the flower baskets on my front porch have been exceptionally lovely. The fragrance of flowers companions all time spent visiting on the porch and offers such welcome upon entering.
